When Ashima learns of Ashoke's death, why does she make a point of turning on all lights in their house?

I want to know if there is any special significance when Ashima frantically turns on all the lights in the house when she learns if Ashoke's death...? It seems to be so pointed an purposeful an act.., Thank you...

The primary reason for her frantically running off to turn on all the house lights would be an unprecedented feeling of insecurity. Ashoke had always been her pillar of strength. His sudden departure from her life leaves her exposed and disoriented. Thus, this fear and insecurity of having been left alone, compel her into switching on all the lights. So that she can hold on to some semblance of security.

Another reason behind this act could be the fact that she felt cold and started shivering upon hearing the news of Ashoke's death. It might be plausible that she turned on the lights so that this cold sensation might disappear.
