What events make parker look like a suspect?

Poirot suspects there is something corrupt about Parker, and eventually discovers that Parker blackmailed his former employer, and was snooping around for the means to blackmail Ackroyd, as well. Although Parker is greedy, Poirot nevertheless deems him too cowardly to be Ackroyd’s murderer.
