Should we make anything of Rainsford’s initial attraction to Zaroff? Are the two men similar?

Rainsford's initial attraction is curiosity. Zaroff is a handsome and imposing man, he has the appearance of an aristocrat. To find such a man on an island is a curious thing to be sure..... a mystery. The two men are alike in that they are both hunters..... big game hunters looking for the next thrill. Zaroff's idea, however, of the perfect prey is far different fom Rainsford's. Thus, the story of the game.
