Metaphors and their meanings?

The story's main metaphor is the hunter versus the hunted. It appears over and over again throughout the story, and in the end, it is a metaphor enacted by Rainsford and Zaroff.

"Nonsense," laughed Rainsford. "This hot weather is making you soft, Whitney. Be a realist. The world is made up of two classes--the hunters and the huntees. Luckily, you and I are hunters.
