-Rainsford is a strong swimmer.

-Rainsford keeps calm in the water.

-Rainsford argues against animal's feeling anything substantive. (He is a hunter with no empathy)

-Rainsford can detect the gun from type of gun shot.(when he falls in the water) This tells us he is a good hunter

-Rainsford follows tracks to the Zaroff mansion (Good tracker).
