How does kafka manipulate time to create tension ?

Gregor is frantic about time. He oversleaps by two and a half hours. His family depends on his job so the time factor creates more anxiety for him. Time creates tension in the story and is only hightened by the distorted sense of time as Gregor is turned into an insect. Gregor begins to lose both passage of time as well as self-identity as he morphs into an insect.
