Why was Thomas so disoriented and confused in Ch. 1?

Thomas has been placed in a metal box and has lost his memory. He remembers his name, can recall images, and has no idea why he is trappe in the darkness...... I believe these circumstances would be enough to confuse anyone.

Thomas was so disoriented and confused because when he came to the Glade in a Metal box and didn't know why he also had no memory of where he was or why he was there or any family and friends but he knew his name and also felt like he had been there before.

Shoot I would've been disoriented and confused to because I wouldn't know where I was or what was happening
