Why do you think the boys are so reluctant to give Thomas any answers in Ch. 2?

The boys are hesitant to give answers because they don't know Thomas..... and let's face it..... Thomas isn't making a very good impression. Alby also makes it clear that his story will be a long one, and that it will have to wait until they give him a tour the following day.
