It is easy to like Thomas because of his innocence and his resourcefulness. He also is likable because he can relate to Teresa through his telepathic ability to communicate with her. Gally is easy to dislike because he seems almost two-faced; on the one hand, he seems like a rule-bound Glader who always does what Newt and Alby have ordered. Yet, by the end of the novel, he lets his anger get the best of him, saying that he does not believe they should trust Thomas. Finally, he kills Chuck with a knife at the end of the story.
