What was the woman in whites reasoning for Chuck's death? Do you think this is actually true in the case of Chuck?

The woman said that "all things happen for a purpose". In Chuck's case this possibly meant that he was meant to save Thomas' life, possibly, Check's death was meant to motivate Thomas to do something they want him to do.
