The boys that live in the Glade have created their own words that they’ve added into their language. Why do you think that they developed their own way of talking? How did the Gladers’ language affect your reading of the book?

The boys make words up, just as people have throughout history. In the Glade, they have their own little world, and they've come up with certain phrases, names, and expressions that are theirs alone. The words were interesting and took a bit of getting used to, but they were not difficult.
