7. Why was Thomas disappointed when he saw the Map Room? What did he expect? What did he actually see?

When Thomas has his first glimpse of the Map room, he is somewhat disappointed to find it is a very simple room containing little more than a few tables and stacks of paper. Eight trunks also line one of the walls.
