The Marrow Thieves

Why does the following citation describe the theme, sanctity of land, life, nature?

In context, this quote refers to the Native American connection to the land.... their place in the world, the land they inhabited, cared for and respected.... nature provided everything that was needed to live, and the Native Americans used or took only what was needed. They also fought to keep it that way.
