Why does Minerva make Miig promise Kiiwen? And why might it be so important to always go home

In “Lost and Found and Lost,” we see that Minerva is found, but is then ultimately lost when she dies from the gunshot wound. Minerva’s final words are “Kiiwen” (210) which we are told means “go home.”

When Minerva dies, she tells them kiiwen, making them promise to return home.Sense of home and place is an important motif in this book. Home is what Frenchie and his friends dream about.
