Frenchie reluctantly accepts his call to adventure or in this case survival. His quest is the survival of those closest to him and, in a larger sense, the survival of his people. Through the novel, Frenchie goes into the unknown touching many important points in the Hero Quest.Frenchie is idealistic in some ways, though he is able to face the world realistically. He is devoted to the family group led by Miig, and he kills one of the men he holds responsible for RiRi's death.
