4-)What is the significance of the fact that the original box has been lost and many parts of the ritual have been forgotten?Can you find a statement in the story that most likely explains the original purpose of the ritual?

This really illustrates the senselessness in the tradition and the fact that the ritual is carried out simply because it always has been so. The only clue we get as to the original purpose of the Lottery is Old Man Warner alluding to some kind of ritual sacrifice for agriculture, “Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon.”
