Without thinking of any other of the books how do you think Percy and Annabeth's relationship is going?

I wouldn't say they're in love based upon the first book in the series. I would, however, say that they are developing a close friendship, which is based upon respect and trust (not always), and that those two attributes in a friendship can definitely develop into romance late on.
