What are dome differences and similarites between the first 4 chapters of the Joy Luck Club?

The first few chapters deal heavily with the theme of sacrifice and the connection we find quite often between mothers and daughters.

Chaptets three and four however, deal with the themes of superstition and deceptive appearances...... both of which tie into "motherhood," and raising families without ever letting them know of your sacrifices.......
