Why does Hugo dream he has become an automaton?
In the movie, Hugo has a dream of being the automaton but no matter what I look up there is no answer.

I don't believe we are given reason for Hugo's dream, outside of the fact it was his father's greatest wish to repair the automaton, something that has now become Hugo's goal.
