The Hunger Games

Describe the conversation about each other’s strengths and why is this so odd?

I have an english book report for the book Hunger Games to complete, and I was wondering if anyone had the questions already completed or could help me with this one, thank you.

This question is apart for Chapter 7 by the way.

Katniss and Peeta's conversation about abilities is odd because they spend so much time complimenting and noting each other's positive traits. In turn, they each accuse the other of downplaying his or her abilities. Neither wants to offer ideas about improvement, and because they are actually destined to compete against each other, they are determined to be underestimated rather than overestimated. At the end of the chapter, Katniss is unable to discern whether Peeta meant his protestations about her abilities as evidence of his affection or contempt, and she gets angry.
