The Hound of the Baskervilles

When Holmes asks Watson to go to Devonshire he instructs him to report only the facts .why do you think he says so? explain chapter 5&6

Holmes doesn't want conjecture from Watson. Watson is pleased to be of use to Holmes. This really speaks to the relationship between the two. Holmes does not see Watson as his equal in intelligence. He uses Watson to do the jobs he deems can be done by a subordinate.
