Where do the dwarves hide from the dragon?

After the dragon knew the dwarves were with bilbo then the dragon went outisde so my question is where did they hide at the first after they went to the tunnel and hid in the movie but i am asking where did they hide first?

The first time Bilbo went into speak with Smaug, the dwarves waited near the door-step. After he came back, they hid in the tunnel.
