Chapter Seven- An Eagle drops off Bilbo and Gandalf reestablishes his friendship with the Lord of the Eagles and the birds depart. The Eagles will figure prominently later in the novel.

In regard to Bilbo: "But it would not be the last time he longed for his hobbit hole." This alludes to the fact that more danger is coming.
