The Hobbit

List and briefly discuss the dangers they meet and confront in Mirkwood Forest. Why is this called the most dangerous part of the journey?

The closing line in chapter 7 tell us, "Now began the most dangerous part of the journey" as they "plunged into the forest."

Their first danger was lack of food and fresh water; then they sent Bilbo on ahead to meet up with the giant spiders.
