1) Skeeter asks Aibileen about Hilly's plan to require all white homes to have separate bathrooms for their maids. Skeeter is disgusted by the plan.
2) Skeeter has the opportunity to write a column about cleaning, something she knows nothing about. She then decides to talk to Aibileen. During this interaction, she learns that her family's beloved maid didn't simply move to Chicago.... she was fired by her mother. Aibileen also mentions that Constantine had a mysterious, light-skinned daughter, who appeared just before she was fired.
3) Skeeter's interaction with Elaine Stein, who is interested in Skeeter's idea to write a story about black maids, who work for white women.
4) Aibileen agrees to be interviewed.
5) Minnie talks to Skeeter, but she is concerned about Skeeter's purpose. She notes that Skeeter isn't interested in rights, but rather, a sensational story. Skeeter admits it.... and Minnie becomes angry.
