What are some examples of direct characterization for Starr?

I need "evidence" but I cant find any quotes , the criteria would be "Direct characterization : occurs when the narrator or a character directly tells the audience about a character"

Starr is the narrator of the novel. Do you need quotes about how she characterizes herself..... or quotes pertaining to what other characters say to her, her sister for example?
