How did Starr defend her little brother?

In the end, during the faceoff between Maverick and King, Sekani picks up a gun and hold it... aiming it a King. When the police arrive, the draw their guns and aim at Sekani, as he is the one holding a weapon. Horrified, Starr stands nearby, holding her hands high in the air to protect Sekani, all she yells at the police asking them how many more have to die for them to understand. In turn, Sekani drops the gun, and the police turn theirs away from him.
