The Great Gatsby
Where do you see identity and individualism in the story?

Gatsby is the perfect example of the American spirit of individual success. He wasn't like Tom Buchanan or any other of the East Eggers who came from old money. Gatsby did it all himself. True it was through crime but the point is that he transcended his meagre past to become one of the few ultra rich. Gatsby had an individual style all his own that set him apart from the others. His parties were legendary and his personal life a mystery. He was The Great Gatsby.
