What impression does the airplane ban give you about the kind of place Jonas lives in?

The ban on airplanes speaks to the distinct control the Elders have over the community and its inhabitants. The fact that the plane inspires fear is a shock, as for us, planes flying overhead are a natural occurrence. The fear within the community leads me to believe that they have been purposely kept ignorant... frightened. The removal of curiousity makes people far easier to control.
