Consider the reaction to Gabriel's eye color. What does this reveal about Jonas society?

Everyone in the community is apparentlt colorblind. This worked for the Elders as it encouraged sameness and lack of individuality. Jonas's eye color stands out: it links him with the Giver.  His eyes have the "Capacity to See Beyond." For others, eye color is unimportant.
