How do you think Della changed from the beginning of the story to the end?

I think that Della is actually a pretty static character meaning she doesn't change. Della is the main character in the story, in that she is the one whom we come to know the best. So what do we really learn about her from such a brief acquaintanceship? Well, we know she is sincere. We know that she embodies the spirit of Christmas. She adores her husband, puts his needs before hers, and is kind, sweet and generous. But beyond this, we also know that she understands some of the most important lessons that life has to teach. For example, she understands that people are more important than things. She understands that it is better to give than to receive. She understands that it is only in elevating others that we can truly elevate ourselves. Della embodies everything that Christmas represents, and everything it has been trying to teach us since the original Magi gave the first gift of all.
