What happens to Granpa?How is he saved? Chapter12

Grandpa is bitten by a snake. By the time they reach him, Granpa's eyes are closed and his arm is nearly black. Granma sucks and spits out his blood and asks Little Tree to pull bark off a birch tree. She uses this to build a fire to burn her special herbs and roots. She spots a quail nearby... swiftly, she lifts her skirt and moves to the nest like a 'wind whisper', then throws her skirt over the nest. She splits the quail's breastbone, while still alive, and lays it over the snakebite. She holds it there for a long time, letting the writhing body suck the poison from Granpa. Granma keeps working on Granpa until nightfall.
