Anne's father packed boxes that were moved to the annex a little at a time. On the day they moved, everyone wore multiple layers of clothing and carried as much as they could. After moving into the annex, the family had to stay inside, they were not allowed to move about during the days, and the bathroom could only be used when employees were absent from the building.
