Why does Ka's father throw his sculpture in the water?
Ka's father tells her that he felt he was not worthy of being immortalized by his art. He then confesses that the stories she’s heard all her life about his being imprisoned in Haiti are not true.... that he was, in fact, employed to kill and torture many of those who were prisoners. After confessing, he begs Ka to believe that he regrets his actions and is no longer capable of doing such things.
