Hannah's experience as Chaya taught her about the importance of family family history. She comes to understand Aunt Eva, her experiences, and the things that made her the woman who is Hannah's aunt..... the things that made her strong, as well as the underlying sadness within her. As Chaya, Hannah also learned to face difficult situations with courage. As a result of her own experience, Hannah comes to see her family in a different light, she appreciates the things that embarrassed her, and her relationship with Aunt Eva was strengthened. Hannah also learned the importance of preserving cultural traditions, traditions almost destroyed by genocide.
