How is sacrifice shown during the book?

Sacrifice and selflessness is shown throughout the book by many of the characters. Rivka repeatedly puts herself at risk for the other women, Hannah puts own life at risk to save Leye's baby, and in her unsuccessful attempt to save Reuven. In the end, Hannah sacrifices her own life for Rivka.... the ultimate sacrifice.
