What is Daniel Websters argument for declaring Jabez Stone's contract with the devil null and void?

I think it is because that when Jabez signed his contract with the devil, it was because his land was barren and he was suffering. The Devil took advantage of his suffering so the jury feels some sympathy for Jabez.
