Abigail takes a page out of the "Tituba playbook" of protecting yourself. This outburst from Abigail comes at the end of Act I. Tituba’s confession is an example of a way out, and Abigail takes it. She “confesses” to consorting with the Devil, which, according to Salem belief means that she is redeemed and free from guilt. Then she accuses other people of witchcraft to shift blame and suspicion onto others.
