John Proctor is basically a good man who made a mistake. He is prideful, honorable, and well respected by the community. He works hard, stands up for others, and works toward justice.

Abigail is a silly but manipulative child. She has no pride, she's seduced her employer, and she would like nothing more than to be rid of her former lover's wife. She stands for no one, bullies those who deem to call themselves her friends, and threatens anyone who questions her actions.
