Why is it important for us to not always rely on one source of information, and to be open to examining all sides of a concept or a story?

chapter 14

When we travel and encounter new people and experiences, it helps us to open
our minds to new ideas and to broaden our perspectives. David’s captor
provides him with a new perspective in terms of explanations regarding
Waknuk’s landscape, as well as the landscapes and vegetation of Wild Country
and the Fringes.
Why is it important for us to not always rely on one source of information, and to be
open to examining all sides of a concept or a story?

This question calls for your opinion, there is no right or wrong answer. The fact that this question calls for an opinion also illustrates who it is important to be able to see things from more than one perspective. No two people see something in the exact same way. David comes from a world where intolerance rules. Strorm wants to rid the world of deviants, the Sealand lady sees herself as superior, and the Fringes believe the Waknuk people are filled with arrogance. Each group is intolerant in their own way.

The landscapes and vegetation of the Fringes have been allowed to return to their natural state. Mutations have been purified and eliminated..... the evolution, or return to nature, has allowed for farming and habitation. Sadly, differences are misunderstood because each group only sees their "own" way..... they are unwilling to listen and unwilling to learn.
