Blindness has everything to do with perception.... being able to see and percieve the would around you with an open view. Reuven begins to really see after his hospitalization. Throughout the novel, both Reuven and Danny will have a better understanding of themselves and the world around them. Blindness inhibits growth and branching out.... to really see, you have to look beyond who you are and what you know to what you can learn.
