Early in the story Danny and Reuven show a lack of communication when they cannot get past their differences and their interaction end in name calling.

Reb Saunder's has a definite problem in communicating with his son. He watches his son from afar, and questions others to learn what he wants to know, rather than taking the time to ask or understand his son.

David Malter's commuinication skills are strong and extensive. He knows his own son, and he also understands the empty spaces that Danny needs filled. He encourages his son to be a teacher... to help Danny find the things he's searching for.
