The Canterbury Tales
In today's society, where might you find individuals who would agree with the Wife of Bath and the philosophy she illustrates with her story?
Canterbury Tales: The Wife of Bath's Tale
Canterbury Tales: The Wife of Bath's Tale
I believe you'd find a number of supporters for the Wife of Bath's story (theory) if she were alive and telling it today. Divorce is more common than marriage, multiple marriages far more common than a marriage that lasts a lifetime. The woman believes in lying until she gets what she wants, making accusations to manipulate her husbands, and bilking the men out of all the money she can muster. It sounds a bit like reality television!
