Why doesn't Bruno believe Shmuel's story?

becuase bruno did not believe that 11 people could live in one room. bruno also refused to believe that his dad was as bad as the other soldiers as shmuel kept repeating that the soldiers had stripped him of everything. bruno was used to living in luxury and was kept (literally and figurativeally) on only one side of a fence not knowing what goes on on the other side and so did not understand the superstances of those less fortunate thatn him. this is why he found it hard to believe Shmuel's story
