She is unhappy about her husband being assigned to a "death camp" and thus would not support the beliefs of the "fury." However, she mostly keeps her opinions to herself and eventually wants to leave and return to Berlin.

On Page 38, Mother says, "We should never have let the Fury come to dinner..... some people and their determination to get ahead."

Mother is upset that the family has to move. This scene takes place just as the family is ready to get in the car and leave for Auschwitz.
