Why does Grandmother write plays for Bruno and Gretel to perform?

Grandmother used to be a famout singer, thus, she loved the stage. When she had parties, her guests would ask her to perfrom, something she always enjoyed. In fact, she wrote the plays in question, so her grandchildren could perform with her.
