What is Bruno's father character?

I think Bruno's father was a little more complex than simply hating Jews. He was very much part of the larger Nazi machine. He would have accepted Hitler's ideology to a certain extent. There are clues, here and there, that father had great reservations about what he did but his entrenched belief in the party and military loyalty superseded his reservations.
