Hyperbole:

His eyes appeared heavy with tears and Bruno thought that one good blink might bring on a torrent.

Simile:

'He sounds like a barrel of laughs,' said Gretel.

Metaphor:

He wasn't particularly bothered if Gretel was being sent away because she was a Hopeless Case ....
