Bruno told Shmuel when he grows up going to be soldier , but he told Pavel when he grows up going to be explorer.
Why he said something else to Pavel ?
I don't think Bruno cheated Pavel or lied to him. When Pavel helped Bruno, he truly dreamed of being an explorer. As time passes in the camp, Bruno begins to understand that not all men are like his dad, that soldiers can be seen as good or bad, and that possibly good soldiers can make a difference. He's just a boy..... he can dream of becoming anything at all.
