What was Rosa’s reaction when Max arrived? Are you surprised by it?

Rosa welcomed Max, which completely surprised Liesel, and I have to admit surprised me as well. This is a glimpse of Rosa we've never seen before..... a mothering Rosa. With Liesel, Rosa is tough, disapproving, and demanding. Before her meeting with Max, we tend to believe she's simply crabby..... maybe she just doesn't like children. Now, we can see that her behavior with Liesel is meant to help a young girl turn into a woman.... she's teaching her. Max is already a man.... a young man who needs her help.
